Let it install the default HD driver, same results. When I opened it I soun up and heard the crackling audio and thought the sound card was bad. Thanks for marking this as the answer.
I then put a fresh install of XP 32 bit and tried everything again and again. This problem is driving me crazy.

From my reading it does this on every OS, 32bit or 64bit. Be careful about a headphone output and a speaker output, they are different. You could try setting standard drivers.

Manually look at manufacturer's sites for drivers - and Device Maker's sites.
But the audio problem always comes back. There doesn't seem to be any HD external audio output. Nice post Kent - captures the essence of what this BBS is all about. Then do same for Device Maker's site.
